The Keppel Offshore and Marine (O&M) General Manager involved with the US$55 million bribery case in Brazil is now a PAP candidate.
Selected by army general Minister Chan Chun Sing, Ivan Lim Shaw Chuan, 42, told the state media that he will be contesting in Tanjong Pagar GRC:
“I chose to serve with PAP because the PAP values and attributes are close to my heart. In particular, being compassionate, and also being self-reliant on the ground. I’m concerned about elderly residents and children who require social assistance, especially those with special needs.”
Singapore was made to pay US$422 million in out-of-court settlement with Brazil and US authorities, so none of its state-owned company Keppel executives is prosecuted.
The new PAP candidate was announced alongside a notorious PAP crony, director of Timbre Group Edward Chia. The Timbre Group received a luxurious government contract managing “Smart Nation” Yishun Park Hawker Centre.
The Yishun Park Hawker Centre is one of the most unpopular coffeeshops as it makes customers to pay a deposit fee for using trays.
Timbre Edward Chia will contest in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, alongside the controversial Foreign Minister, Vivian Balakrishnan.
