Quoting a report from an unknown consulting firm, state media ChannelNewsAsia (CNA) proclaimed that the Singapore’s MRT train system is “the best in the world”. The 153rd-ranking government mouthpiece wrote that Singapore has the cheapest fares, best convenience, most accessible, safest, most efficient, most ecologically sustainable, most outstanding, highest commuter satisfaction and the “best-in-class” transport system:

“Singapore has created a best-in-class public transport system, which is accessible, efficient, convenient, sustainable, and at the same time affordable… The city also scored a high rating for sustainability, with one of the safest and most ecologically sustainable public transport systems, according to the report. The convenience and flexibility of the Singaporean ticketing system, using the EZ-Link card, was another outstanding feature…Singapore residents were the most satisfied on many of the aspects analysed, as compared to residents globally.”

The state media then quoted a propaganda fake news claiming that fares were reduced by 15%, when fares actually went up by 4.2% last year.
