A PAP grassroots leader from Sembawang GRC has been charged for cheating 12 residents over S$1.4 million. Reichie Chng Teck Kiam, 51, faces a total of over 150 charges for forging Minister Ong Ye Kung’s signature and cheating his victims into believing that the Minister started an investment scheme.

Between Nov 2012 and Mar 2017, Reichie Chng made off between S$2,000 and S$250,000 each from his 12 victims through Whatsapp screenshots of conversations he had with Minister Ong Ye Kung. The victims were convinced that Minister Ong Ye Kung started an investment scheme and poured their monies into the scam.

The PAP grassroots leader also managed to borrow a personal loan of S$50,000 when he is still an undischarged bankrupt.  Reichie Chng face 10 years imprisonment and a fine for each cheating charge.
