The PAP MP for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC will have to resign in two months’ time, by May 2017, to be an “independent” candidate and also the only presidential candidate in the upcoming rigged Presidential Election.
A backward calculation on the timeline of the September 2017 Presidential Election shows that candidates need to fill in their applications from 1 June 2017. Halimah Yacob will have to resign her PAP membership in May to meet the timeline. PAP Minister Chan Chun Sing has earlier ruled that there will be no by-election to be held when Halimah Yacob resign from her GRC.
The upcoming Presidential Election is reserved only for the Malays and likely be a walkover, as orchestrated by dictator Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to upkeep his dictatorial control on the country’s national reserves and CPF funds.
Speaking to state media reporters at the International Women’s Day celebration held at Marsiling Community Club yesterday (Mar 12), Speaker of Parliament and President-select Halimah Yacob praise her ruling party government for giving females higher representation in Parliament:
“If you look at the 80s, we didn’t have a single female Member of Parliament. It is difficult for me, as Speaker now, to visualise a field of male parliamentarians back then. Now we have got over 20 per cent, which is higher than the international average… so that is pretty good.”
The selected presidential candidate for the upcoming rigged Presidential election said that it is a “tricky question” if she hopes to see a female President for Singapore:
“It is a tricky question that I would not be able to answer. But certainly, I hope to see women growing in leadership positions in Singapore, because that then allows women to fully develop their capabilities and contribute. We are made up of half men and half women, so we must have both engines running at… the optimum speed.”
