The Singapore police confirmed that they are investigating a Singapore-based work permit holder from China who allegedly cheated fellow Chinese nationals by offering currency exchange services.

Using the popular messaging application WeChat, the Chinese national advertised that he has clients in China offering Sing dollars (SGD) for the Chinese Yuan. When the victim transferred Chinese Yuan/Renminbi (CNY) to him, the cheat stopped responding.

According to media reports, the Chinese national has cheated at least six victims of a total of hundreds of millions in Chinese Yuan (millions in SGD).

Using the nickname “you are very special”, the Chinese national communicated in voice messages with his victims amd boasted that he has up to S$200,000 Singapore dollars in cash ready for exchange at below market rate.
