Minister of Social and Family Affairs (MSF) Tan Chuan Jin posed on his blog reminding Singaporeans to look out for each other this Chinese New Year.
The S$1.1 million-a-year minister who rose to his ministerial seat through a GRC ride with former Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, said that he is happy to see how his meet-the-people session has helped residents and that they are “looking better than ever before”.
Minister Tan Chuan Jin revealed in his blog that charities are now receiving more donations as compared to previous years, and he said these charitable acts are heartwarming and encouraging. However, there is no mention of the widespread poverty among elderly in Singapore, especially of those cardboard collectors.
The Singapore Minister who just enjoyed a S$45,000 civil servant year-end bonus however stopped short of volunteering his wealth to assist the community and instead wrote that Singaporeans should “foster this sense of caring and giving”. Minister Tan Chuan Jin was a former army general who is now in the running alongside fellow army general Chan Chun Sing for the Prime Minister post.
