SMRT broke its own record of unreliability today (Dec 23): there are 3 incidents of train breakdown in less than a day.

Around 7.30pm last evening (Dec 22) during the peak hour period, SMRT reported an hour-long track fault between Aljunied station and Eunos station. Fast-forward 9 hours later to this morning at around 6am today (Dec 23), SMRT reported that a traction power fault at Bugis caused service disruption between Outram Park interchange station and Aljunied station. This time, the fault was cleared within an hour.

However, another train service breakdown incident strike at around 7.30am today, a track fault was blamed for causing disruption between Tanah Merah and Eunos. SMRT reported to add 10 minutes of waiting time, but passengers are seeing delays as long as 20 minutes.

As of publication time at 8.35am, the fault is still not cleared. Serious overcrowding are currently happening in all stations along East-West Line. You may follow SMRT’s Twitter page for live updates.
