A 28-year-old China worker hung himself after he lost all his money at the Marina Bay Sands casino. According to media reports, the worker from Guang Zhou China, Feng Zhen Chang, worked as a storeman in Singapore and was reported missing in October 2015, barely three months after he arrived in Singapore.
In 14 April 2016, several construction workers found a human skull and bones in a forest at Marina Bay Central. The human remains were verified to be the missing China worker Feng Zhen Chang. A belt was found at on a tree branch and a work permit card was found in the jeans along with clothes containing human remains.
According to police investigations, the EZ-link card registered a last entry at the Marina Bays station on the night of 31 Oct 2015. The Marina Bays Sands casino also revealed that the deceased visited the casino several times prior to his death. The deceased’s bank account was found with only S$6.54, even when his monthly take-home salary was S$1,250. The police coroner believe that the deceased must have committed suicide after he spent all his money gambling at the casino.
