A 23-year-old domestic helper from Indonesia working in a bungalow at 50C Telok Kurau Lorong H, killed her 59-year-old female employer and attacked her husband inflicting neck injuries with a knife yesterday (June 7). The daughter-in-law of the deceased called the police at 8.48pm when she heard a loud commotion taking place at the second floor of the three-storey semi-detached house.
According to media reports, the 57-year-old husband, Ong Kian Soon, rushed to the scene to find the maid emerging from the toilet with a knife. It is understood that he was also attacked but the maid was put to restrain after three Malaysian men who were driving nearby in the vicinity came to the rescue. The witnesses said the maid had injuries to her forehead and hand while the old man had two neck-wounds. The maid is one of the two the elderly couple hired.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene at 9.03pm pronounced the elderly woman dead while the husband were sent to the Changi General Hospital. As of press time, it is unknown how serious his injuries are but reporters gathered information from a nurse saying that he had lost a lot of blood. The maid was arrested by the police and will be charged for murder.
This is the second high-profile murder case committed by a domestic helper. A 20-year-old Indonesian maid was recently sentenced to 18 years jail for killing her 69-year-old employer Nancy Gan who ill-treated the former.
