Both East and West loops of Sengkang Light Rapid Transit (LRT) were unavailable for more than 40 minutes after a train fault this evening (March 29) at around 7pm. Public transport operator SBS delayed the news of the train breakdown and only announced the train fault nearly an hour later at 7.57pm.

Passengers on board affected LRT trains have to walked on the LRT tracks in complete darkness. You may view a video recording of the walk taken by a passenger who walked around 150m to Renjong station here:

The path was barely visible and some passengers complained about the danger of walking on the track in complete darkness even though they were guided by 3 station staffs.

Singapore’s public transport has been unreliable and train breakdowns are getting as frequent as once a week.
