In an exclusive media interview with The New Paper, a 30-year-old China woman opened a private cosmetic surgery business with surgery operations going for half the market rate at her three-room HDB unit in Sengkang.
Among the surgical procedures includes double eyelid surgery, Botox injection and filler jabs. The PRC woman who is a Singaporean Permanent Resident promotes her services on PRC chat platform, WeChat and even posted photos of before-after images of her clients as advertisement. She also said that she has been performing the surgeries since 2011 and most of her clients are PRC nationals working in Singapore. She charges S$2,000 for a double eyelid surgery, S$300 for botox injection and other services which are half the market rate.
Her husband is a 46-year-old Singaporean who works as a construction site manager but he denies that his wife is operating an illegal cosmetic surgery business despite being shown photos of the surgical equipment the reporters took earlier.
