29-year-old KPMG accountant Joshua Ang Zhu Ci was sentenced to 9 months’ jail for taking more than 120 upskirt photos and videos of 7 women he liked over a period of 4 years since July 2010. The victims, aged between 23 and 30, are his friends, colleagues and acquaintances, and their photos were taken at his workplace KPMG, church and school.

Although most photos were taken impromptuly, Joshua Ang also preempted meet-ups with ladies so to take upskirt photos of them while having a meal at a food court. Joshua Ang’s luck ran out in Dec 2013 when he was caught red-handed taking an upskirt photo of a 23-year-old lady at a train station escalator. He has since pleaded guilty for taking upskirt photos and compiling them in a portable hard disk.

In his defence, a psychological report found that Joshua Ang suffered from depression with obsessive compulsive features that led him to commit the lewd offences. He has since completed 12 sessions of psychiatry therapy and 16 psychological counselling, and have not repeated the offence since 2014. The deputy public prosecutor however denied these mitigating factors saying that Joshua went through treatment only because he was arrested.

The court sentenced him to 9 months’ jail but Joshua is appealing the sentence and asking for probation instead. He is currently out on a S$10,000 bail.
