After reporting a record of 195 dengue cases in Tampines, PAP MP for Tampines GRC and Environment Minister Masagos Zulkifli now called for volunteers to step up and help distribute repellents to residents in Tampines because the National Environment Agency (NEA) and Town Councils are understaffed.

“We need to prevent mosquito breeding. But NEA officers and Town Councils cannot achieve this alone.

I would like to call out to volunteers to come down to Tampines West CC on Sunday, 17 January at 2 pm to help us distribute repellents to residents in the affected areas and to create awareness on the dengue situation and also to encourage them to practise the five-step Mozzie Wipeout.”

Just in Tampines Polyview alone, there were 86 breeding sites with 60 found in homes, 19 in common areas, 6 in other premises and 1 in a construction site.
