*STR readers are entitled to 1-for-1 free ramen at the new Takagi ramen from Jan 2nd to Jan 9th. Just tell the cashier you are there “for the 1-to-1 ramen from States Times Review”

Takagi Ramen, the  ramen chain shops created by the founders of the now defunct socio-political website The Real Singapore (TRS) are now opening a new stall at Ang Mo Kio Central Blk 721 on 2nd Jan 2016. This is their third outlet following two shops at the NUS.

The shop pressure cooks their Tonkotsu broth for 12 hours to melt all the bones and each bowl of ramen is said to contain over 8500mg of Collagen. The Japanese authentic ramen noodles are also self-made in the store giving it a natural springy bite.

According to the Singapore government, the website published controversial content that ‘caused ill will’ to the religious harmony of Singapore. In Jan 2015, the founders of The Real Singapore, Ai Takagi-san and Mr Yang Kaiheng were arrested and charged with sedition for being responsible for the management of the website. Then in May 2015, the Media Development Authority shut down TRS, making it the first socio-political website to be censored by the Singapore government. Subsequently the Singapore Press Holdings delivered several demands for infringement of copyrights.

Despite having the case coming to a year today, the judgment remains undelivered. You may support the couple by visiting their ramen shops.
