Former PAP grassroots leader and Singapore Permanent Resident John Duncan Tasker has only been fined for punching a Singaporean over the use of a carpark space at East Coast Park.

The 48 year old British national served as the vice-chairman of Upper Changi Neighbourhood Committee under the People’s Association, a PAP-controlled organisation. On May 30 this year around 6.10pm, John Tasker drove against the traffic direction to take the parking lot Singaporean Yak Eng Kiat was waiting for at Carpark C1 East Coast Park.

When confronted by Yak Eng Kiat, John Tasker quarreled with him and refused to apologise. The foreign talent who was a former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of JLC Group then punched Yak Eng Kiat on the right side of his face. John Tasker then drove dangerously towards Yak Eng Kiat who managed to escaped to safety.

The Singapore judge charged John Tasker of voluntarily causing hurt and ordered him to pay Yak Eng Kiat S$1,000. Singaporeans have however expressed disgust over the sentencing believing that the sentence was a light slap on the wrist only because of John Tasker’s political link with the PAP.
