PRC citizens who fulfill the following requirements will be given automatic immigration clearance by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) from today onwards:

  1. Aged 6 and above
  2. Valid 5 year or longer Multiple Journey Visa
  3. Visited Singapore at least 3 months in the past 12 months

This announcement was made by ICA today and claimed to provide greater convenience to these eligible China residents facilitating trade, business and tourism links between Singapore and China.

Many Singaporeans have however raised serious concerns to the decision as PRC citizens are widely perceived as law breakers and ill-mannered. From vandalism to prostitution, PRC citizens have a poor public image worldwide. Other minority Singaporeans accuse the PAP government for having a Chinese-majority agenda, referring to the 75% Chinese racial quota the PAP government uphold.
