Government-linked association, Securities Investors Association (Singapore), awarded its donors DBS and SMRT as winners for top corporate governance and Internal Audit Excellence respectively.
Other controversial award winners are Channel News Asia’s reporter as “most promising journalist of the year”, The Straits Times’s assistant political editor Rachael Chang and other reporters from Lian He Zao Bao and The Business Times. All award winners are from Singapore Press Holding.
Singapore’s media ranking in press accuracy and independence is ranked 153rd in the world according to international journalism watchdog, Reporters Without Borders. Although SPH have won all journalism awards domestically in Singapore, the Temasek Holdings-owned corporation did not win or even clinch any nominee positions in any international journalism award.
