More than 300 protestors started a violent riot in the resort island of Phuket, Thailand on Saturday night 8pm to Sunday morning 4am. The protest was initiated in response to the death of two Thai teenagers, aged 17 and 22, who were killed on the road in a police car chase after the pair sped by a police checkpoint on their motorcycle.
20 vehicles were damaged including 5 police vehicles burnt, and the local police station at Thalang was under attack from glass bottles and home-made fire bombs. The Thai police called in the military to control the crowd. The main road to the airport was blocked and resulted in massive number of tourists missing their flights. No tourist was hurt and the local media reported that nobody was hurt in the violent riot.
