As Singapore’s air quality moves into hazardous range above 300 PSI level, Singapore ministers were forced to convey an emergency press release making a range of announcements in regards to the haze.

Education Minister Heng Swee Keat announced that primary and secondary schools will close while all other education institutions like Polytechnics, ITEs, JCs and universities will remain open. Manpower Minister ruled out issuing a stop work order and instead “cautioned” Singapore employers to take care of their workers.

Minister of Environment Vivian Balakrishnan has only ended up giving an explanation of wind direction, giving no domestic counter measures and solution.

Foreign Minister K Shanmugam was absent from the emergency press release. Earlier in the week, K Shanmugam has said that there is only so much he can do because the fire is burning in another country.
