A foreign student from Singapore Management University (SMU) has been jailed for 6 weeks for stealing casino chips at Marina Bay Sands. 22 year-old South Korean You Hyeon Ho stole a total of S$6,300 worth of casino chips and faced over 272 charges of theft committed in October 2014.

The third-year economics undergraduate with SMU were stealing casino chips from “Sic-Bo” game tables from Oct 1, by shifting other gamblers’ bets and stealing them before the end of the game. He was eventually caught on Oct 22 after he pocketed a winning S$5 cash chip.

You Hyeon Ho was educated in Singapore’s secondary school, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and went direct into SMU without serving National Service as he is a foreigner. It is unknown if the South Korean is sponsored by the Singapore government on a scholarship.
