The ruling party PAP-linked PAP Community Foundation (PCF) kindergartens raised childcare fees on Tuesdays (Sep 15), just four days after the General Elections. Monthly childcare fees below the age of 7 increased to S$617.90 a month, while infant care services is at S$1,245.80.
Unlike in the past, PCF kindergartens are created for profiteering these days which further deters Singaporean families from having more children. The birth rate of Singaporeans is currently at 1.29, the 6th lowest in the world, and still falling.
Singaporeans have less time for family because of the increase in working hours and the rising cost of living. With the influx of foreigners, salaries have tanked further as the labour market continue to be saturated.
