Singapore President Tan was conferred an honorary doctorate from China’s Nankai University because of good bilateral relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Tony Tan rehashed Singapore’s commitment to China saying that the country has been one of the earliest supporter of China’s recently-established Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the equivalent of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He also said that Singapore regularly send many of its civil servants to China to learn about public administration, waxing lyrical how fantastic the Communist Government is at governance.
