A 47 year old Singaporean has been arrested for misunderstanding instructions from the immigration officer and failing to stop his car at a designated inspection bay for further checks.

The Singapore Police and Immigration Check Point Authority (ICA) said that the Singapore-registered car cleared immigration at the Tuas Checkpoint and proceeded to Customs Red Channel to declare the food products he brought in from Malaysia. The ICA officers have apparently checked the man’s vehicle but were dissatisfied with the quantities declared. According to the man who was later interviewed by the media, he said that he understood from the ICA officers that he could proceed into Singapore.

The ICA officers did not give chase and neither did the Singapore man sped away. The Singapore Police later found his car along Pioneer Road North near Nanyang Technological University around 2.04pm on Tuesday (June 23).
