Quoting two government university’s academic, Singapore’s state media TodayOnline yesterday (July 27) published two opinion articles accusing Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad of being racist.

The first article by a “senior analyst” of Singapore university NTU, attacked Malaysia’s decision to not extradite an Islamic preacher back to India. According to the Interpol, there is no evidence suggesting that the preacher is a terrorist and the international police refused to issue an arrest warrant. The Islamic preacher is currently taking refuge in Malaysia, to which the Singapore state media said is an evidence of him being a racist.

TodayOnline published a second article supporting Najib Razak, and supported the corrupted former Prime Minister’s claim that the Malaysia judiciary is biased. The Singapore media quoted Najib Razak who accused the Malaysia Attorney General of prejudicial, and called the Malaysian ruling party “hypocritical”. Also from NTU, the “research analyst” said that Najib Razak may be able to “seek political asylum with foreign governments friendly to him”.

Singapore’s state media is ranked 153rd in the world for press freedom and credibility. Through its propaganda mouthpiece, the Singapore dictatorship has in recent months been posting fake news and rumours to disrupt the new Malaysian government. Earlier in May, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia singled out Singapore’s Straits Times for publishing fake news. Just two weeks ago, Malaysia Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad called out Singapore’s ChannelNewsAsia for spreading fake news about the arrest of Jho Low in China.

Although Singapore has a range of anti-fake news laws, none of the state media were taken to task.
