Three Filipino women were arrested on Thursday (Dec 21) for making several coordinated theft at Orchard Road. The three unnamed foreigners whose visa status were not revealed by state media, were found in their possession three mobile phones and cash containing a total of S$1,117.20.
The Singapore Police managed to identify the three from security cameras in shopping malls and street cameras, and arrested the three a day later on Friday. The police said in a public statement that the Filipino trio would first distract their victims with questions and another would steal the handbags.
It is unknown how many have fallen victim to the three, which is believed to be part of a pickpocketing gang in Philippines. The thieves each face a maximum jail sentence of 3 years and a fine.
