City Harvest Church founder Kong Hee has recently put his penthouse at the Sentosa Cove for sale at S$10 million. Kong Hee co-own the penthouse with a partner and bought the luxurious 5,232 square feet duplex penthouse at S$9.3 million in 2007. He pays S$17,000 monthly in mortgage for the penthouse but lives at another penthouse in Ocean Drive with his family.
According to The Straits Times, an anonymous investor who visited Kong Hee’s Sentosa Cove penthouse described the dwelling as lavish and opulent:
“The home is decorated with quality furniture and top of the range equipment. It gives me the impression that the owner sure knows how to enjoy the high life.”
The property agent advertised the unit as one that boasts spectacular views of luxry yachts entering the marina, and a private lift that takes you up to the 11th floor penthouse featuring four rooms. The living and dining ares have giant crystal light fixtures and art pieces on display. There is also a walk-in wardrobe which connects the master bedroom to a huge jacuzzi. The pastor’s unit also feature a spiral staircase in the dining areas that leads to an entertainment area and a roof terrace with a huge infinity pool on the second floor.
However, according to recent sales of similar penthouses, it is unlikely Kong Hee will be able to sell his for S$10 million. There have been no takers so far. The church pastor is currently facing trial for corruption and misappropriating church funds for his personal use and his wife’s doomed singing career. City Harvest Church is notorious for its money gospel, where Christians attending the church are highly encouraged to make as much monetary contribution as possible.
