A 24 year old Malaysian burglar is charged in court today (June 3) for housebreaking 7 houses in Whitley Road, Moulmein Road and Yio Chu Kang. Mohd Nor Aszrol Kamaruddin, whose visa status is unknown, is facing seven counts of housebreaking and two counts of trespassing which were committed over 18 months from October 2013 to April 2015.

The prosecution presented court documents detailing that Mohd would climb to the second or third level of the landed properties then enter the house via the balcony. He has successfully burgled 6 houses and stole 8 handphones and cash up to S$11,940. He would then sell off the handphones in Johor.

When he was eventually caught in this year, only S$748 was found on him. He will remain in remand until the next court hearing until June 17 where he is expected to be pleading guilty for his offenses. For burglary by night, he faces a minimum jail term of not less than 2 years.
